These cold winter months can have a detrimental effect on our bodies and our moods. The “winter blues” have a scientific basis and can be a mild form of Seasonal Affective Disorder, characterized by decreased energy, fatigue, apathy, and more. Thankfully there are ways to combat these woes. One of the best things to do is to… EXERCISE! So come in to AKT and get moving. Plus it’s warm in here 🙂 In addition, try to spend at least 15 minutes in the sun each day. If that is unbearable, supplement with Vitamin D. And don’t disregard your psychological health. Instead of feeling bummed out while cooped up inside, use your extra time for good. Spend more time with your family, have game nights, movie nights, start that book you’ve always wanted to read, finish that book you’ve never had time to finish, try out new recipes, start your spring cleaning early, clean out that junk drawer that always drives you crazy, try a new hobby, the possibilities are endless. Spring will be here before you know it, in the meantime, relish the rest of winter.
