Yay! it’s finally summer and that means the livin’ is easy. With so many amazing fruits and veggies in season, it’s time for some yummy and easy salad combos! One of my current personal favs is an avocado, tomato, cucumber salad. It’s light, refreshing, and, of course, packed with all kinds of goodness for your body!
Cut it all up, mix it all up, and you’re done!!
One of my favorite things to do in the summer is to be OUTSIDE #byedowncoat #hellotanks&shorts! I love the heat and I love the sun. I’ve never been someone who’s very good at laying around and getting a tan in the poolside. Instead, I like to actively absorb my vitamin D!
One of my favorite outside places in NY is Brooklyn Heights. It’s gorgeous and there is so much to do! There are all kinds of amazing outdoor restaurants, bars, innovative new food trucks, cool photo oops, parks, and events. You can even go for a walk or run right over the BK Bridge for a little exercise. Every time I head down there is always an adventure.

It’s what we’ve all been waiting for *drum roll please* SUN DRESS SEASON!!! Wanna have killer legs to show off in that flouncy dress? Well A) get yourself into class at AKT!! And B) also work on these simple exercises at home to target and tone alllllll kinds of muscles:
Do each exercise listed below for 30 seconds 3Xs through!
- Basic squat: knees over toes, weight in the heels, & send that booty back!
- Plank with knee drop: Plank it out on your fore arms, send that navel to the spine and drop
the knees down & up.
- Burpees: Jump it up! Down! Out! In! And up again REPEAT!
- Wall sit: head, neck, shoulders, and back on the wall. Keep a neutral spine. Lower like

-For your workout clothes have FUN! Use bright colors, try to get away from black, grey, and white for a few months and do something exciting.
*SIDENOTE/TIP*: Something I like to do is put together my outfits the night before, and the most important outfit is my workout gear. If I have that outfit organized and ready in the AM I have no excuses like “IDK what to wear – I’m not going”. We’ve all been there and done that. Lastly, having my outfit pre-set gets me excited to show it off the next day ;).
-Reinvent a tee-shirt! This is great especially if you’re on a budget and can’t afford to buy a brand new wardrobe. Every girl has at least five bottom of the barrel Ts they don’t touch any more. So get crafty and cut something up! There are loads of simple non-sew tanks and halters you can make. YouTube it, you’ll get inspired I promise.
-MAXI DRESSES! I love them. Especially the ones with a great cut out in the back or a deep plunging neck like. It’s literally the most comfortable, chic, and easy outfit ever!
-Tee shirt dresses #lovingthemrightnow. So easy to throw on on a hot day with a cute sandal and a statement necklace. Boom. Done.
-Friday comes around and you’ve already exhausted all of your fav basic outfits for the week…this is when we look to you funky shorts to save the day!! I love a great pair of patterned shorts – whether it be floral, polka dots, bright colors, stripes, love it all. Keep everything else simple and let that booty pop!! And then it’s Friday so treat yourself to a soy iced chai — we all know that’s the summertime PSL (pumpkin spice latte).
