5 Ways to Power Through Plateaus

Results don’t happen overnight, but if you stick to the plan, they can and will happen faster. Follow these 5 tips on how to take your workout to the next level.

  1. Underestimating Nutrition:
    • Underestimating how much food you need, or don’t need, in a day can make a big difference on your energy level and effect your workout
    • Don’t diet – keep a food journal to see exactly what you’re eating in a day
    • Pay attention to small choices that can make a big difference.
  2. Training in Your Zone:
    • Don’t count steps – use a heart rate monitor
    • Breaking a sweat is great but to see results you need to be working out at the right level of intensity
  3. Stick to the Plan
    • Don’t do something different everyday – stick to a routine
    • Try for 2 week increments
    • Give your body time to make gains
    • Then fool your body by changing things up, so you don’t plateau
  4. Don’t Overtrain
    • Don’t push through exhaustion
    • Recover, stretch, and don’t be afraid to rest
    • Intense workouts with no recovery cause glycogen depletion
    • Burns off the lean muscle you are looking to build
  5. “No time to workout” – AKA Excuses.
    • Don’t lose sight of your priorities
    • Make time for things that are important to you
    • Recommit to your goals when you feel yourself drifting
