Alarm BLARES. PRESS Snooze. SNOOZE Ends. Alarm BLARES.
I reach for it, miss, but graze it enough so that the alarm clock CRASHES to the floor.
The only escape from the incessant beeping was to get out of bed, which was inevitable, and then Groundhog Day began.
What transpired next is best illustrated by a flow chart.
What was I doing wrong? Why was I so exhausted that I dreaded leaving work knowing that I would have to start my evening routine? Shouldn’t I be waiting for the clock to strike 5:30 PM so I can spend time with my beloved family?
WAIT. STOP THE INSANITY.
BREATHE. REFLECT…I AM THE CAUSE OF MY CHAOS!
I came to the realization that my morning routine was chaotic, disorganized, and very stressful. Although it was the true definition of Groundhog Day if there ever was one, I was always unprepared, sleep deprived, rarely awake, rushing, running on empty, confused, forgetful, and generally in a bad mood. (Can you believe that throughout this chaos I was still trying to salvage at least an hour to watch my favorite TV show?)
I know what you’re saying. “Safia, we hear you but what’s the answer?” You’ve been patient long enough. You’re the creator of the chaos and therefore, you’re the only one who can fix it. My spiral into mayhem started in the morning and the reality is:

The first two hours of your day are key. From more energy to positive outcomes, if you get those right, then everything else will fall into place. You will start to do and see things differently. I know it works. My success aside, I have seen a complete 180 in my clients when they reset their mental alarm clocks.
Fueling (and refueling) your body with the right foods when you wake up is the second key to your success. How many times have you heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day? Hundreds, right?
But how many of you practice the art of fueling yourself? That’s what I thought.
