Meet Our Moms
Looking for a nice way to celebrate a mom this Mother’s Day? We asked the AKTeam how they make their mom feel special and here’s what they had to share…
My mum was in NYC last week so we called it my belated birthday and early Mother’s Day trip. Among the many “touristy” things we did, the highlights were: Live with Kelly and Ryan, Come From Away and dinner at Dovetail!!! Yummy.

Mother’s day is a bitter sweet day for me. I lost my mother of breast cancer 16 years ago in my 20s, and I terribly miss celebrating her and how amazing she was. Although she’s been gone for so long, she is incredibly present on that day. On the bright side, I am a mother of two beautiful children and I am grateful to be celebrated by my loved ones. I profoundly cherish all the little cards and crafts my kids give me every year. The loss made me realize how important it is to never take anything for granted, enjoy every instant with my family, and live life to its fullest. Happy Mothers Day!!

On Mother’s Day my mom and I always try a new restaurant for brunch or lunch! We are total foodies. A favorite spot of ours is Alice’s Teacup. They have amazing scones and tea that we love to share together.

On Mother’s Day my mom is the queen and she deserves it! We spend the day doing exactly what she wants – breakfast in bed, a walk in Caumsett Park, dinner at Cassis in Huntington Village.

My mom and I couldn’t be more different, but that doesn’t stand in the way of us showing our love for each other. Most Mother’s Days we are apart, but send care packages to each other with simple treats inside like bath salts, beef jerky, skin care products, etc. (Of course hers always include socks, underwear and vitamins for me!)

My mom and I love making up a picnic basket together then we go to the park eat and then play Frisbee together. We like going to paint pottery, and one of our favorites (AKT Cheat Day activities) is making chocolate martinis and then play tipsy Uno/card games.

Every Mother’s Day me and my family wake up early and make her breakfast in bed! Then we usually go to a family movie, and my dad or I cook dinner!

My mother is pretty great at recycling in our household. So one Mother’s Day my dad and I tried to gather all the cans and bottles we had to deposit at the grocery store. We made the trip and came back with a receipt to show her we pitched in. A GREEN Mother’s Day made her happy! It’s the little things!
